Coveted Porto centre-back Eliaquim Mangala has been mooted with a Premier League move for some time, being commonly regarded as one of the most exciting defensive prospects in world football.

Manchester City, Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid are all reportedly keen – in fact, along with midfielder Fernando, also of Porto fame, it’s believed the 23 year-old is one of the Eastlands outfit’s priority targets this summer.

But recent speculation from the Guardian has seen the France international’s transfer saga take an unexpected turn, with Mangala revealing he would favour a move to Manchester United over the noisy neighbours.

The Red Devils could certainly do with some added quality at centre-back, with Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand both leaving Old Trafford on bosman moves this summer.

But incoming manager Louis van Gaal is reportedly privy to a £200million summer warchest, so it’s unlikely Mangala will be his only major addition this summer.

With that in mind, here’s SIX United targets who could soon follow the highly-rated defender to Carrington, some inspired by his arrival, others more coincidental.
