Amid Manchester United’s need for a youthful left-back, Eliaquim Mangala could soon find himself joined at Old Trafford by Port team-mate and often tabloid-mooted Premier League target Alex Sandro.
The 23 year-old produced sensational form in the Champions League’s Group Stages this season, averaging a ridiculous 3.2 tackles, 3.2 accurate crosses, 1.8 key passes and 4.7 dribbles per match.
Having provided similar action-packed displays in the Europa League – until the Dragons were knocked out in the semi-finals by eventual winners Sevilla – and domestically, the Brazil international has been eyed by Manchester City, United and Chelsea throughout the season.
But it’s believed Sandro has particularly taken the Red Devils’ fancy, and although his defensive game still leaves something to be desired, there’s no doubt the South American would add a new dimension to the Old Trafford side’s attack.
With Luke Shaw a known Carrington target, Sandro’s transfer fate will largely depend on that of the England international. Furthermore, Porto’s notorious resilience in securing big fees for their departing stars could prove an issue.
