The Manchester United midfield has lacked quality ever since the retirement of Paul Scholes, with Carrick the only one playing at a level required by the Red Devils. Van Gaal will need to fill the area with quality, and is already looking to make a swoop for Feyernoord’s Jordy Clasie.
The Dutch star is the complete midfielder, good at going forward but also able to put a foot in for a tackle. There are very little, if any, weaknesses that can be found in his game. Not to mention Clasie is only 22 years of age.
Van Gaal, currently managing the Dutch team for the World Cup, will know better than anyone if the starlet is good enough for his new-look Red Devils. Don’t be surprised if the former Bayern manager pays up to £15million for Clasie this summer.
