Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he would be extremely interested in succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson for the Manchester United

manager’s job, according to The Sun.

Despite Sir Alex believed to be a few years from retirement, the 39 year old has his eyes on being the man to fill the void.

He currently manages Norwegian outfit Molde and the ‘baby faced assassin’ held informal talks with Aston Villa over their manager’s position.

The former Red Devils' ace on that occasion cited family reasons for not wanting to make a return to the Premier League, but he has not ruled out being lured back.

When speaking to The Sun, he insisted a move to England was still in his thoughts: “It’s a dream but let’s take just one step at a time. I want to become a manager in England.

“At the moment I’ve just started and it’s been two years more or less in Norway. So the time will come. I’ve spoken to clubs and explained it’s a bit early as I want to learn and don’t want to jump too big a bridge at the start.”

Manchester United's vice-chairman Ed Woodman apparently has drawn up a list of names to replace the 70-year-old Ferguson for when he decided to retire but is keeping a closely kept secret.

A host of names have been linked to the role for when the Scot calls it day, most notably former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The self-named “only one” is still the bookmakers favourite at 2/1 but Solskjaer still holds hope of sitting in the Old Trafford hotseat.
