Barcelona manager Tata Martino is ready to sanction the sale of Manchester United target Alex Song, according to reports from A Bola.

The ex-Arsenal man has endured a torrid spell at the Nou Camp since his 2012 switch to the La Liga champions, often struggling to get into the starting XI.

His woes have continued this season, with Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Cesc Fabregas all ahead of the Cameroonian international in the running for a first-team berth.

The 26-year-old is believed to be open to moving in search of regular action, and will be granted his wish in January.

Manchester United are believed to lead the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham in the race for Song, with David Moyes desperate to add to his midfield ranks.

The Scot may opt to push ahead with a move due to Barca’s willingness to sell in a bid to draft in his second major signing since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson during the summer.

The Catalan giants are likely to be keen to recoup most of the £16m they paid for Song last year, but are aware that they may have to take a hit in a bid to move him on.
