Kevin Strootman’s agent has confirmed Man Utd have enquired about the PSV Eindhoven midfielder and that he has his sights set on a move to England.

The 22-year-old Dutch international has scored five goals in 14 league appearances for PSV so far this season and is one of the most sought after prospects in Europe, with a number of leading clubs said to be monitoring his progress.

Reports in Holland were suggesting Strootman could move in January but his agent Chiel Dekker has insisted the player would prefer a move in the summer.

“All the top clubs in Europe know about Kevin, but a move to England next summer is his first priority and, yes, Manchester United and other big clubs in Europe have been in touch with me.” Dekker told TalkSport.

PSV boss Dick Advocaat also seems resigned to losing the player after already lining up Oscar Hiljemark from Swedish champions Elsfburg as a replacement.

Sir Alex Ferguson is said to have been a long admirer of Strootman and after focussing his attention on strengthening his attack last summer, he is now looking to try and bolster his midfield options with this possible signing.
