Jose Mourinho couldn't have asked for a better start at Manchester United.

The Old Trafford club have come flying out of the blocks in the Premier League this season and the signs look ominous for the rest of the league that the United of old are back.

Mourinho has seen his team lift the Community Shield and then go on to beat both Bournemouth and Southampton with relatively comfortable performances.

Furthermore, Man United's new signings, in the main, look to have settled in straight away. Paul Pogba gave a composed performance on his Old Trafford return against the Saints whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic is scoring goals already. Eric Bailly appears assured at the back and Henrikh Mkhitaryan is looking more confident each week.

They look a Mourinho team now too, United. Defensively they are strong but you wouldn't put it past the Portuguese to make them even better.

There's always room for improvement and here at FootballFanCast we think signing any of these three would help with that...

Raphael Varane

The young Frenchman is one of the best defenders of his age in the world and would fit nicely next to Eric Bailly in Jose Mourinho’s new back four. The Portuguese boss signed Varane for Real Madrid and it would be no surprise if he wanted to do it again, even though Los Blancos would almost certainly put up a fight.

Composed on the ball and able to pick out a pass, he has a similar skill set to a young Rio Ferdinand!

Danilo

danilo

It’s going to be either Danilo or Dani Carvajal at right-back for Real Madrid, which means the other is going to be twiddling his thumbs on the bench. Real kicked off their season with Carvajal starting in the win against Real Sociedad so it looks as though it’s Danilo that’s going to be left out, and this could be United’s gain. They could do with an orthodox right-back and the former Porto man certainly fits the bill.

Jose Gaya

Gaya is going to challenge Jordi Alba for the starting spot in the Spanish national side before too long.

The young Valencia man is assured of his place at club level based on ability, but it could come down to finance surrounding whether he stays at the Mestalla.

Valencia desperately need to balance their books and selling the left-back would help do this, but Man United had better act quick because others are bound to be interested.
