The talk regarding Louis van Gaal being sacked has emerged again after an underwhelming season for Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho and Ryan Giggs are seen as potential candidates to replace him in the hot-seat, although there are some suggestions that the next man will have to wait until LVG's current contract has expired in 2017.

Opinion surrounding the next appointment is divided among the Red Devils' fanbase. Some want Jose, others are crying out for Giggs. I think 'The Special One' should be the chosen one, and here are THREE reasons why...

No time to experiment now

Manchester United had a colossal task to replace Sir Alex Ferguson. With Mourinho heading back to Chelsea, Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid and Pep Guardiola to Bayern Munich, Man United, running out of options, had to settle for David Moyes. Moyes had a below par season by the standards set by Sir Alex at Manchester United, although it was a little harsh on him and he was sacked before the season ended.

The experienced Louis Van Gaal was given the chance after the World Cup in Brazil, where Netherlands finished 3rd under his guidance and Man United fans had something to be optimistic about. The blockbuster signings of Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao saw fans start believing that they would be back on top in no time, too. But, his philosophy of possession based football and waiting for the killer move started to irk some of his players and some sections of fans, too.

This season, although Man United have enjoyed some big wins, their game isn’t much more entertaining - evident from goal less at half time at Old Trafford before December. The final Champions League spot remains the the target, yet the race is getting tighter now with four matches to go.

Ryan Giggs is a legend for the Manchester United fans as a ‘player’, but placing him in the United hot seat would be a gamble. One fair argument can be made regarding Zidane, the manager of Real Madrid, but Real Madrid have a far better squad and are in a less competitive league (where the three clubs need not worry about Champions League qualification ) than the Premier League. With the danger of missing out on Champions League followed by loss in revenue and marquee players in the transfer  window, no more experimentation regarding managers is expected.

Experience

Mourinho1

Ryan Giggs is currently in his third season as the assistant manager of Manchester United. He did manage four games following the sacking of David Moyes, with two wins, one draw and one defeat, though.

Jose Mourinho had a poor time at Chelsea, but he has managed over 750 games, with a win percentage of 65%, which is some going! The numbers are supported with multiple domestic titles in four different countries and two Champions League crowns, too. Mourinho’s tactical expertise, along with is glittering medal collection, make him a better option than Giggs.

Attracting names in transfer market

Mourinho

Underwhelming seasons after Fergie have smeared the image of Manchester United. The pressure is on the Red Devils to secure the Champions League for next season, as it will the acquiring of new players.

If United miss out on Champions League, it would be a lot more difficult for Giggs to secure new players for the club, and he may have to look for alternatives. But Mourinho is surely a magnet for most stars. Players may consider sacrificing Champions League for Mourinho, but they might not do the same for Giggs.
