Manchester United welcome Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to Old Trafford today for one of the biggest derbies in world football.

The Red Devils have been in fine form in recent weeks, winning all of their last nine fixtures in all competitions, leaving them unbeaten in their last 15.

They head into the match on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win over Hull in their EFL Cup semi-final first leg, which saw Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini produce the goals.

The match-up between the two heavyweights, whose reverse fixture in October ended in a goalless draw, is expected to have a big influence on the title race come the end of the season.

If Man United are to challenge for the Premier League title this year, they will need to produce a stellar performance to grab a win against a free-scoring Liverpool team - who are the division's most potent side in terms of goals-per-game.

That said, here are THREE reasons why Man United will beat Liverpool...

Wealth of attacking options

With Jose Mourinho having a wealth of forward-thinking options at his disposal, Man United’s attack has been outstanding of late.

The Red Devils are blessed with striking options - both starting players and substitutes - and all have been showing their quality in recent games.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has 13 league goals so far, has to lead the attack exceptionally, while the flamboyant Paul Pogba has been on-song of late. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also in fine form and Anthony Martial is not afraid of taking on defenders single-handedly.

The likes of Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard are also great options for the team.

These attacking players seem to have clicked and are creating chances on a regular basis, which are being finished off with ease.

Given the brilliant form of these players, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for Liverpool to stop them from scoring and, potentially, winning.

The Carrick factor

Michael Carrick has been an important member of Man United’s midfield this season, and brings a level of composure and calmness that will be vital in a massive clash like this one.

Sitting just in front of the backline, the 35-year-old offers a sense of solidity and leadership for the team.

In big games, there is usually a lot of pressure and the manager’s game plan often goes out of the window, but with the presence of an experienced player like Carrick, Man United should be able to deal with the pressure.

He also has an eye for a pass and will be looking to expose the Liverpool defence with his accurate through balls.

Brilliant League form

Man United have not lost a league match since they were hammered 4-0 by Chelsea on October 23. With six wins in a row and an eleven-game unbeaten run, Man United have given their top-four hopes a huge boost.

The Red Devils have recorded only three draws all season and have conceded 19 goals - the third best defensive record in the league.

Considering their recent league form, Man United should be able to come up with a win against Liverpool to extend their run to seven games.
