United lodge second bid for Chilean maestro

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United have made a second attempt to sign Arturo Vidal from Juventus.

United have been heavily linked with a move for the Chilean all summer as Louis van Gaal looks to add extra quality to his midfield.

Reports suggest that United are looking to strike a player plus cash offer for Vidal, having offered £32 million as well as a player.

Mexican striker Javier Hernandez and England international Danny Welbeck are thought to be the two players van Gaal is willing to offer as part of a deal for Vidal.

The United manager has admitted he is still keen to add to his squad having lost at home against Swansea on his Premier League debut.

Van Gaal was very public in his admiration of Vidal whilst at Bayern Munich, and he has pursued his interest since arriving in Manchester.

Juventus have maintained their intention to keep Vidal, and Giuseppe Moratta has reaffirmed the club’s position.

“We have no ongoing negotiations, nor have had any requests for the player to leave.

“Vidal has always said he wanted to stay here and we are more than happy to keep him.”

Vidal scored 18 goals in all competitions for Juventus last season.
