The Atletico Madrid midfielder is a rumoured target for David Moyes, and could still be bought this month despite renegotiating his contract with the Spanish side recently.
The Spaniard has signed a deal adding a £50million release clause into his contract, however reports in the Spanish press suggests this could mean nothing other than increasing the money Atletico receive.
Atletico are still strapped for cash, and have been quick to sell some of their star players in the attempt to raise funds in the past. Star strikers Fernando Torres, Sergio Aguero and Radamel Falcao have all been sold by the La Liga side, despite their fantastic goal scoring abilities.
Koke has been a big player for the club based in the Spanish capital this season, scoring 3 goals and helping them rival Barcelona for top spot in the La Liga table. But with David Moyes keen to add a central midfielder to his United squad, the 22-year-old could be boarding a flight to Old Trafford despite his new contract.
Moyes missed out on two midfielders from Spain’s top flight last summer, with moves for Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera both collapsing.
