One of the biggest story lines early on in the Premier League this season will be how new Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal gets on with star forward Wayne Rooney.
The newly appointed Dutch manager has a phenomenal relationship with United’s Robin Van Persie, and many wonder how that will impact Rooney, who thrived last season in former boss David Moyes’ only season at the helm.
All of those worries may have already been answered, however, during a training session yesterday in Los Angeles as the Red Devils gear up for their pre-season tournament in America.
After Rooney’s in-swinging corner during a drill goes just wide of the net, LVG and the forward share a touching embrace. Honestly, what a lovely move by the boss.
He knows how crucial Rooney is to his attack and any semblance of rebounding this season will only happen if van Gaal has everyone, #10 included, clicking on all cylinders.
The fans loved it, and I’m sure the players got a kick out of it as well. It would have been cooler if the header wasn’t missed by the attacker on the receiving end, however, but for now, it’s baby steps for Man United…
