A lot has been made of Paul Scholes’ return to Manchester United this week.
The United legend, who spent 19 glorious years playing for his hometown club, this week rejoined the League holders as part of the backroom staff, to complement the already decorated alumni of Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt coaching at Old Trafford.
And the video below, which was filmed in 1993 as part of the Manchester United youth team media training, shows just what the United players can expect for in Paul Scholes’ team-talks.
Scholes, and teammate Gary Neville, are being asked about their recent FA Youth Cup semi-final victory. While Neville answers calmly and with an air of confidence, it would be fair to say Scholesy finds it a bit harder, especially with the pronunciation of some of the longer words.
Obviously Gary Neville paid more attention in the classroom than team mate Paul Scholes. The former Manchester United captain is still benefiting from those media training classes today as his broadcasting career goes from strength to strength. But the midfield maestro more than made up for it on the pitch.
