David Moyes has the managerial attributes and strength of character to be a success in Spain, with his promising start at Real Sociedad testament to this.

The Scotsman has a self-belief that impressively stood the test of a harrowing experience at Old Trafford, with the media scrutiny from  the start frankly ridiculous – it was almost like they wanted him to fail.

Ferguson’s successor was always going to be a tough assignment and Moyes didn’t get the time to show his credentials. Ten great years of over-achievement, including finishing fourth in the Premier League, at Everton should never be forgotten.

Moyes turned Everton into a consistent top-six side who would regularly reach the latter stages of the cup competitions – how the Toffees would love to be that this season. Meanwhile at Manchester United now that Louis van Gaal has spent £145million this summer yet cannot better Moyes’ points tally after 21 League games.

One can debate Moyes’ tactics, but his belief in them cannot be questioned, something which has been evident from the Scot bravely backing himself with Real Sociedad in La Liga. On early signs Sociedad appear a suitable fit for Moyes, holding similarities to his Everton side in being a disciplined and hard-working unit.

Moyes also has Carlos Vela, a top and experienced player who scored a hat-trick in the Scotsman's first home match in charge. Keep him fit and a top-half finish should be no problem.

Moyes has unsurprisingly immediately used his methods to make Sociedad more defensively solid, acquiring their first two clean sheets of the season in subsequent matches.

The decision to select Moyes over Pep Mel, known in the UK only for a disappointing stint at West Brom, but in Spain as a manager with La Liga expertise, was surprising. The early signs are that the gamble is paying off however, especially in hindsight of the magnificent 1-0 over Barcelona that the ever pragmatic Moyes masterminded this month.

Moyes is by all accounts known, even by the press who brutally hounded him during his tenure at Manchester united, as a good, honest manager who deserves all the success he gets. This was evident when not shirking the media throughout his time in the Old Trafford hotseat.

Moyes has already turned results around at Sociedad and provided he can get that Spanish tongue learnt relatively soon has every ingredient to be an overwhelming success.

Away from the deafening noise made by the UK media Moyes has every chance of building a club with patience and realistic ambitions, as he did with Everton. Steve McLaren successfully recovered his reputation in Holland and Moyes has fallen nowhere near as far as the now Derby County manager did.

Now Moyes has the January transfer window, funds and confidence from great recent results, their appears no reason why he cannot lead Real Sociedad to a respectable finish this season.

Moyes' Spanish adventure shows every sign of being a success, and given what he has been through their seems few more deserving of managerial redemption.
