Jose Mourinho has responded sharply to Arsene Wenger, claiming the Arsenal manager is “a specialist in failure.”
Earlier today, Wenger claimed that the title is Chelsea’s to lose and implied that Mourinho’s strategy of branding his team as small horses ultimately equated to a fear of failure.
“It’s fear to fail.” Wenger said at a press conference.
“If you’re not in the race you cannot lose it, if you declare yourself not in the race you cannot lose it, it’s as simple as that.
I think just that our job is to be ambitious and to try to win, and if we do not win to take full responsibility for that. It’s as simple as that and that’s how I see it.”
Later, at a press conference of his own, Mourinho snapped back at Wenger.
“The reality is he’s a specialist because eight years without a piece of silverware, that is failure” he said.
Mourinho’s men are currently top of the table, one point ahead of Arsenal and three ahead of City who still have a game to play.
Liverpool are one behind City, making the title race a four club fight.
This latest spin in the war of words will be sure to add extra spice to the title race, with the sides neck and neck.
