Newcastle are considering a move for Arsenal’s on loan forward Joel Campbell, according to the Daily Star.
The Toon are looking to overhaul their frontline this summer, and are also keen to sign Tenerife forward Ayoze Perez.
Newcastle are believed to have already opened talks with the Spanish club over 20-year-old Perez, who they are confident they can land for as little as £2million.
Alan Pardew is also keen to bring in Campbell, who has impressed during a loan spell with Greek club Olympiakos.
Campbell won plaudits for his performance against Manchester United in the second round of the Champions League, in which he scored during the Greek’s 2-0 first leg victory.
Pardew has revealed the signing of two strikers will be his priority this summer.
“At the back end of last year, we struggled for goals and we addressed that by moving Yohan Cabaye up to the No.10 role further up the pitch and getting Loic on loan,” said Pardew.
“Now both those aren’t around so we’re back to where we were.
“We know that in the summer with Cabaye gone and Loic not being our player, these are areas we need to address.
“The owner is under no illusions about that and neither am I.
“Somewhere down the line, we need to get goals and we’re very focused on that.
“But you need a foundation to score goals and our problem at Southampton last week was that we never had that.”
