Newcastle are looking to make a bid for Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere, Express reports.

With Loic Remy looking to move back to Queens Park Rangers at the end of the season, Magpies boss Alan Pardew is considering a £5m offer for Riviere.

The former French U-21 international has fallen further down Monaco’s pecking order after the arrival of Dimitar Berbatov from Fulham and will be available this summer.

Once Radamel Falcao returns to full fitness, then the 24-year-old’s chance of any first team football decreases significantly.

Newcastle are currently on a five game losing streak – the first time a Toon boss has done so – and Pardew has promised a number of changes during the summer break.

It is expected that winger Hatem Ben Arfa and Dutchman Luuk de Jong will leave, opening a window to bring in Riviere.

The former Saint-Ettiene striker has 14 goals this season, impressive for a player usually starting from the bench.
