Newcastle United target Siem De Jong is happy at Ajax according to his agent but won’t rule out a move this month.
The 23-year-old is now the Ajax captain and any move away from his boyhood club would have to be a big one.
The Dutch attacking midfielder is high on Alan Pardew’s wish list this month after consistent injuries to Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa have massively hampered his struggling squad.
A replacement for the departed Demba Ba and some experience to sort out the Toon’s leaky defence are also high on the list of priorities for Pardew, but more creativity would certainly help.
De Jong’s agent Louis Laros has revealed that there is plenty of interest in his talented client but a move away from the Amsterdam Arena is not a priority for him at such a young age.
Laros is expecting De Jong to stay at least until the summer.
“There has been a lot of interest in Siem but at the moment he is the captain of Ajax, and he is happy at Ajax,” Laros told Sky Tyne and Wear.
“I expect he will stay until the end of the season. But you never know.”
