Alan Pardew has admitted that Newcastle found their game this weekend against West Brom "difficult".

The Magpies were lucky to win the match, scoring a stoppage time winner in the dying seconds of the game.

However, Pardew feels that West Brom deserved more out of the fixture. He said: "We got the win and we'll take that. We've not had many breaks this season. We perhaps deserved to win at Sunderland and today we've got a goal in a game we did not deserve to win but we have. I am glad to see the back of West Brom. They were excellent. They have got a real assurance about them. Everyone wanted the ball and made it very difficult for us. They probably thought they should have won it but I think our honesty won it for us in the end."

However, Pardew also thinks that the side were tired and struggled to cope with playing on the Sunday after taking part in a match on the Thursday, following Newcastle's Europa League victory over Club Brugge earlier in the week.

"We've had a tough week and we looked tired physically and emotionally today," he said.

"We've got to look at how we approach Sunday games after the Thursdays, because we ate struggling. We will keep trying different things to get that Sunday performance, because the second half was a struggle.” Pardew also says that Demba Ba has "a nerve issue", after the star striker left the pitch through injury.

Alan Pardew said: "He (Ba) just feels like there is a nerve issue, so we are going to have to inspect that and see what it turns up."
