Newcastle are set to launch a summer swoop for Montpellier’s Remy Cabella, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Magpies were linked with the French playmaker in January as they lined up late replacements for Yohan Cabaye, but were unable to match his £15m valuation.

However, they are now ready to return in a bid to beat the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United to the talented 24-year-old.

It remains unclear as to whether or not they will look to meet his price tag when the transfer window re-opens, but it is thought that the club are ready to invest after failing to land a major arrival since January 2013.

Cabella ahs already been advised against joining Newcastle by Montpellier’s controversial owner Louis Nicollin, yet the lure of first-team action may be enough to get him to Tyneside.

The ‘Toon’ are believed to be ready to move early for the silky passer in a bid to beat interest from other sides.

Arsenal and United have both been linked with Cabella, but it remains unclear as to whether or not they will mount serious bids.
