Newcastle are ready to raid the French league once again as they look to bolster their attacking options this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Alan Pardew has set his sights on Metz striker Diafra Sakho, as concerns remain as to whether the Magpies will be able to complete the signing of Loic Remy on a permanent basis.

Both Tottenham and Arsenal are considering making a bid for Remy, who has impressed while at St James’ Park on a season long loan from Queens Park Rangers.

Newcastle are also likely to sell Papiss Cisse in the summer, with the Senegalese having managed to score only two Premier League goals all season.

That has left the Geordies in need of some new striking talent, and once again they have turned to Ligue 1.

Senegalese forward Sakho has just a year to run on his current contract, so Metz look likely to do business at the right price.

Newcastle have enjoyed a lot of success in the French market in recent seasons, with chief scout Graham Carr bringing over a host of Ligue 1 players to the north-east.
