Newcastle are pondering a January move for unsettled Fulham forward Dimitar Berbatov, according to reports from the Sunday People.

The Bulgarian ace recently claimed, via his agent, that he is unhappy in West London, and that a January move to another Premier League side is his desired option.

This has alerted rumoured interest from a number of top sides, but Newcastle are thought to be the most interested of all the potential suitors

The Magpies have reportedly displayed a desire to take the enigmatic forward to St James’ Park, as Alan Pardew steps up his plans to boost his attacking options.

‘Berba’ – who turns 33 next month – is thought o be available for around £2m, with the Cottagers willing to let him leave rather than risk him becoming a disruptive influence for the remainder of the season.

Pardew is keen to partner the ex-Manchester United man with the all-action Loic Remy after witnessing Papiss Cisse’s alarming dip in form.

However, Berbatov’s camp are not quite as open to a switch to the North East, and are instead hoping for late interest from either Tottenham or Arsenal – both or whom are thought to be in the market for a striker.
