Long term Newcastle United target Mathieu Debuchy has claimed that he is not thinking about a January move to the Premier League despite the predictable interest from the North East.
Newcastle attempted to sign the Lille full back in the past two transfer windows but were rebuffed by the French club on more than one occasion.
Alan Pardew is keen on adding more strength in depth to his underperforming Newcastle side in January and Debuchy would be the long term capture that he is after.
“I didn’t think about that period so far, but I can’t see me leaving a team in the middle of the season,” Debuchy told Sky Sports.
“I don’t like that winter transfer market. However, you never know what can happen in football.
“I prefer to not think about it. I met my officials last summer, and there were things I appreciated and others I did not.”
