Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk De Jong has revealed that he is open to a January move to Newcastle.

The Dutch forward has been linked with a loan switch to St James’ Park, with Alan Pardew having made him one of his top targets.

De Jong has endured a difficult period in the Bundesliga, with playing time having been rare for the 23-year-old.

He is said to be available on a short-term deal for the remainder of the season which has alerted the Magpies, who are keen to provide Loic Remy with adequate support.

A move for De Jong is expected to be made in the coming weeks, and the striker says that is ready to join Newcastle.

“I can imagine going,” De Jong told The Chronicle.

“My coach will change things in the second half but not that much.

“I want to play longer than three to five minutes. It’s no fun.

“The coach does not give me the feeling that he continues he will build firmly around me.

“He does not talk much with me. It was a first half (of the season) to forget.”

As well as De Jong, Newcastle are also looking at Montpellier’s Remy Cabella.

The French playmaker has been in good form this season, despite his side being embroiled in a relegation scrap.
