The Mirror.

The Gunners launched a cut-price £10m raid for the Frenchman last week, but saw their bid immediately dismissed by the Magpies.

However, the speculation has unsettled the playmaker, who is believed to have refused to take part in the ‘Toon’s’ weekend clash with West Ham.

This has force the North East outfit to enter negotiations with their London rivals, despite being desperate to keep a player of Cabaye’s quality at St James’ Park.

Newcastle director of football Joe Kinnear revealed that the club have informed Arsenal of their demands, and are now waiting for their next move:

“We’ve told Arsenal our terms, the ball is in their court.”

The 27-year-old has proven to be a real hit since his 2011 arrival in England.

He was a key part of Newcastle’s side that narrowly missed out Champions League qualification that’s season, and still impressed last term, despite being sidelined through injury for some time.

Arsenal are keen on his signature, but are also in the market for other players.

Real Madrid trio Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria – whom they are believed to have made a bid for – are all on Arsene Wenger’s wish list.

Can Newcastle keep Yohgan Cabaye? Or is it now just a matter of what arsenal are willing to pay?
