Newcastle, according to the French club’s president Vincent Lebrune.
The Magpies have been tracking the 26-year-old for some time, and have stepped up their pursuit following Demba Ba’s move to Chelsea.
It was thought that QPR were in the race for his signature, but rumours have circulated that he rejected the opportunity to play at Loftus Road.
This left the door open for Newcastle chief Alan Pardew, whose approach has been accepted:
“We have an agreement with Newcastle for the transfer of Remy,” Labrune is quoted by RMC via Sky Sports.
“Loic can negotiate with them.”
Reports suggest that he has been given permission to fly to the North East to thrash out a deal with the club, who are keen to conclude a quick move.
It is thought that Remy’s ability to operate in a wide role is key in Newcastle’s interest, as they look to shift misfiring front-man Papiss Cisse back into his preferred central position.
Ba’s departure has freed the funds and space in the squad to for the move, which the club will hope can improve their Premier League performances.
Former Newcastle man Joey Barton, who is on loan with Marseille, took to Twitter claiming that a move will be perfect for all involved:
“Good luck to Loic in Newcastle. Don’t worry I’ve told him what to expect. Great guy. Perfect club for him. #toonarmy.”
