Newcastle United have apparently decided to break with the policy of inaction that was in place for the last two transfer windows by already agreeing to sign a striker this summer. The 20-year-old Ayoze Perez looks set on Tyneside after Newcastle have told Tenerife they will meet the players £1.8m buy-out clause.
However, with Loic Remy, Newcastle’s sole goalscoring centre-forward’s time coming to an end, Newcastle will need more than Perez if they have any intentions of actually scoring next season.
And that not to mention Shola Ameobi leaving on a free and Luuk de Jong’s return to Borussia Mönchengladbach, although their relevance is very much suspect.
