Montpellier president Louis Nicollin will only allow Remy Cabella to join Newcastle this month if the Toon pay ‘what Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale’, according to the Daily Mirror.
Nicollin also labelled the Magpies ‘boring’ in a bizarre rant when discussing the future of his prized asset.
Newcastle have been chasing Cabella for some time, but have been advised to return with an offer in the summer, unless they are willing to match the world record £86million Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale.
70-year-old Nicollin – who dyed his hair orange and blue to celebrate Montpellier winning the French title in 2012 – said: “Personally, I wouldn’t go there. You must get bored s***less in Newcastle.
“Remy is a boy I love and he deserves a better club than Newcastle.
“If they pay the money in summer, there will be no problem, but I would advise him to go elsewhere. If there are good offers then that will allow us to have a good season next year, especially if we are in the top division – but there’s no question at all of him leaving now.”
Meanwhile, Turkish club Besiktas are hoping to take out of favour Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse on loan for the remainder of the season, with a view to a permanent £8million transfer in the summer.
