Porto midfielder Fernando is likely to make a summer move to the Premier League, according to his agent.
The Brazilian ace was heavily linked with Manchester City last month, with a deadline day switch rumoured to have been thwarted by his employers’ valuation.
Since then ‘The Octopus’ has penned a new contract at Porto, which looked to have ended all hopes of a summer move.
However, the 26-year-old’s agent, Antonio Araujo, says that a switch to England in six months’ time is still on the agenda:
“God willing, Fernando will play in the Premier League,” he is quoted by The Metro.
“Manchester City were a strong candidate, but were not alone in the race.”
As Araujo mentioned, there are a number of other top sides believed to be interested in his client.
Liverpool and Manchester United are two names to have been mooted, with both clubs said to be keen on snapping up a defensive midfielder.
Chelsea have also been suggested, while interest from Juventus is said to be strong.
Fernando’s contract runs until 2017, but may have been simply a move to ensure that Porto receive a fee for his services in the summer.
