Liverpool fans have less faith in their team ahead of tonight’s Merseyside derby when compared to Toffees supporters who are convinced that Everton will prevail, according to the Betfair Belief Barometer.
Betfair’s behavioural analysis, which is based on the season’s Cashout data, has revealed that over 20,000 Liverpool supporters, which is equivalent to 13.9 per cent of Reds on Betfair, have ‘Cashed Out’ on the Merseyside club.
However, only 16,000 Evertonians on Betfair have decided that they should cut their losses when watching their beloved team.
“With Everton taking on Liverpool at Anfield, their team will need the fans to be their 12th man,” said Betfair spokesman Barry Orr.
“Our Cash Out data shows that so far this season they’ve done their team proud, so there’s no reason why they won’t continue to show this support.”
This could well be based on the two teams’ defensive records as Everton have conceded less than one goal per game this season – 20 in 22 fixtures. However, Liverpool have picked the ball up 28 times from Simon Mignolet’s net in the equal amount of Premier League matches.
Nevertheless, Everton have failed to beat their local rivals in their last 13 Premier League visits to Anfield, drawing seven and losing six fixtures.
