Southampton left-back Luke Shaw insists he’ll stay with the club to secure Premier League football at St. Mary’s Stadium next season.

Shaw, 17, has been labelled the next Gareth Bale for his strength and pace on the left, piquing the interest of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The speculation between Shaw and the Premier League’s elite has been a new experience for the young Englishman, but one that has helped reaffirm his desire to stay at the club.

“When the stories came out I was happy at Southampton and I am still happy. It is a great club and I want to be here,” said Shaw.

“There have been a few players to come through our academy and go on to success and that is what we aspire to be like.”

The Saints look set to offer Shaw a new five-year deal when he turns 18, and the player himself seems set on progressing within a nurturing and familiar environment at St Mary’s.
