New Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is determined to sign Feyenoord striker Graziano Pelle, according to the Mirror.
The 28-year-old Italian striker played under Koeman from 2012-2014, netting 50 combined goals between the two seasons, and the Dutch boss is hoping to lure Pelle to the south coast for around £8million.
Koeman views Pelle as a possible replacement for Rickie Lambert, who was recently sold to Liverpool for £4m. Lambert netted 14 goals in 39 matches for Southampton last season, production Koeman hopes Pelle will be able to replicate should he end up with the club.
Koeman, who was named manager of Southampton earlier this month after three seasons with Feyenoord, replaces Mauricio Pochettino, who left the Saints to manage Tottenham on a three-year-deal.
The new Saints manager should be in store for a busy offseason, as two of the clubs’ biggest remaining stars could be on their way out.
Left back Luke Shaw and attacking midfielder Adam Lallana are both reportedly looking for moves elsewhere in the Premier League. Shaw has recently been linked with a £2m move to Manchester United, while Lallana is hoping to force a move to Liverpool.
