Atletico Madrid are hoping to bring Chelsea duo Kevin De Bruyne and Juan Mata to the club in January, as the prospect of midfielder Koke leaving for either Manchester United or Liverpool continues to grow, reports the Daily Star.
Koke is set to become the subject of a £16million bid from both clubs in January, and the La Liga giants hope to bring in both Chelsea midfielders as replacements.
Both Mata and De Bruyne have struggled for regular first team action under Jose Mourinho this season, and have both been linked with January moves away.
De Bruyne in particular has endured a tough time at Stamford Bridge since signing from Genk in 2012.
The Belgian enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Bundesliga side Werder Bremen last season, scoring 10 league goals in 32 appearances from midfield.
However he is yet to complete 90 minutes for the Blues this season, and has been told by club and international teammate Eden Hazard to seek a January move in order to save his World Cup dream.
Mata has also endured a frustrating season under Mourinho, and knows he needs to be playing week in week out to earn a place in the star studded Spain squad for the summer’s tournament.
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is understood to have identified the pair as replacements for star man Koke, who is expected to make the switch to the Premier League in January.
