The Moroccan winger spent last season on loan at the Potters, and is close to sealing a permanent move to the Britannia Stadium for a potential £7million fee. The Reds will initially receive a payment of £4.5million.
The 25-year-old scored 4 times in the Premier League for Mark Hughes’ side, including the winner against Chelsea in December. Assaidi has only played 73 minutes in the league in a Liverpool shirt.
Hughes was interested in signing Norwich winger Nathan Redmond, but will not make a second bid after having a £3.5million bid rejected by the Championship side. Instead, the former Fulham and QPR manager will complete a permanent deal for Assaidi. The Moroccan will be Stoke’s 5th summer signing, joining Dionatan, Steve Sidwell, Phil Bardsley and former Manchester United player Mame Biram Diouf.
Stoke finished in 9th place last season in Mark Hughes’ first season in charge, after taking over from Tony Pulis. And the 50-year-old is already planning a busy summer transfer window, to build a squad ready to climb up the league ladder.
