Stoke City have learned that retaining winger Oussama Assaidi from Liverpool will cost them £7m, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 25-year-old Moroccan national player spent the last season on loan in Stoke from Liverpool, appearing 19 times and scoring four goals.
Stoke are reportedly stunned by Liverpool’s opening valuation, and are hoping to bring the price down once negotiations begin.
The Potters have already been active on the transfer market this summer, bringing on Phil Bardsley from Sunderland on a free transfer and long-term target Mame Biram Diouf on a three-year-deal from Hannover, which should be announced next month.
Liverpool, fresh off a devastating end to the Premier League season that saw them give away the championship in the final weeks, are determined to boost their transfer funds this summer and view Assaidi as someone who can help them do just that.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to reload his squad and add depth by gaining upwards of £30m in player sales.
One player the Reds have been linked to already this offseason is Loic Remy. The France international spent last season in Newcastle on loan from Queens Park Rangers, but has recently held talks with both Liverpool and Arsenal over a possible move to either side.
