We've had a squirrel at Highbury and a chicken at Blackburn but the latest social media star was a cat at Anfield - which pretty much sums up how bad Liverpool's goalless draw with Manchester United was last night.

Dubbed the biggest game of the season so far, whilst others rather annoying called it 'Red Monday', Liverpool's hosting of the Red Devils passed by without any real moments of note and it was a special guest before the match that stole the show.

Anfield Cat, for us at least, is better than the stars on stage at the SuperBowl every year and this little moggy set social media alight... because we're all a bit mad in Britain and find the smallest things extremely entertaining.

A cat at Anfield is something to rave about though and he didn't look out of place, unlike those in the past like Andy Carroll, Alberto Aquilani and Charlie Adam.

And here come the bizarre stats, comments and Man of the Match awards. To be fair though, Anfield Cat did put in a better performance last night than £89m Paul Pogba.
