Swansea midfielder Michu has distanced himself from a big money transfer by claiming he is “happy” at the club.
The Spaniard’s electrifying start to the Premier League season has seen him linked with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, despite only signing for the Swans during the last transfer window.
His manager Michael Laudrup stated his desire to keep the 26-year-old at the Liberty Stadium by claiming that he would not be sold for any less than £30m.
Now Michu himself has declared his willingness to stay in South Wales, although he did concede that it was flattering to be linked with so many big clubs:
“Right now I’m happy, playing almost every minute and I’m very happy.” He told Radio Marca in his homeland.
“It is always nice that you get talked about with teams like Atletico Madrid, one of the largest in Spain, but now I am very happy in Swansea.”
Michu has hit 12 goals so far this season after signing from Rayo Vallecano for £2m.
His excellent form has seen him linked to a spot in the Spanish squad, with manager Vicente Del Bosque revealing that he is watching the Swansea star.
Although he is primarily an attacking midfielder, Michu has been operating as a central striker in recent weeks.
