Garry Monk insists Swansea have no intention of cashing in on Michu, despite interest from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, reports the Daily Mirror.

Monk insists the Swans are under no pressure to sell their best players, but accepts a player of the Spaniard’s quality is likely to attract attention.

However, Monk claims they have received no offer for the forward, who has almost recovered from an ankle operation.

“Michu is the type of player who will attract interest and he is a good player,” Monk said.

“He needs to get himself fit and that’s got to be his first priority.

“We’re not a selling club and players who have been sold, it has been for the right price. We’ve had no offers and Michu should concentrate on getting back on that pitch for us. He’s a big part of our plans going forward.”

Monk admitted his frustration at coming away with nothing after watching his side play their part in a thrilling 4-3 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday, although the Swansea boss could not fault the performance of his players.

“To come here against a team pushing for the title and to give them such a good game shows how well we have done,” he added.

With Michael Laudrup gone chances are that Michu will not want to be a Swan for much longer.
