Swansea full-back Angel Rangel believes that Chico Flores’ injury could be costly for the team.
Chico, who has performed well since his summer arrival from Genoa, was stretchered from the field during Saturday’s 4-1 win over QPR with ruptured ankle ligaments.
It is unclear as to how long he will be out of action, but it’s likely that the Spaniard will miss the showpiece tie at Wembley later this month.
Rangel believes that the injury has come at a bad time for Swansea and that his fellow countryman will be missed:
“We spoke to him at half-time and he didn’t look very happy,” he is quoted by the South Wales Evening Post.
“He’s been a very important player for us. He’s been a rock at the back with Ashley Williams and he will be a big miss.
“We know we have other players who can fill in and do well. But I am very sad for him because he’s had an amazing season. Hopefully this won’t be too serious.”
Rangel went on to say that his team-mate will be keen to recover quickly to feature against Bradford:
“I am sure if it’s not anything serious like a broken bone or ligaments he’s going to try to rush back for Wembley.
“It’s one of the finals you’ve been dreaming of all your life and he knows that. He wants to win a trophy because he’s never won one.”
Swansea’s next competitive clash sees them take on Liverpool at Anfield and Rangel is hopeful that they can maintain their good record against the Reds:
“We’ve got a great history against Liverpool, we haven’t lost to them in the last two seasons. We’ll go there and try to keep it the same way.”
