Two games, two goals, two wins and two clean sheets for Manchester United this season, it’s so far so good for Louis Van Gaal as he delights in his number twos. Aston Villa, on the other hand, can take heart from from their plucky performance.Wayne Rooney was absent from the scene and did nothing all night whilst Adnan Januzaj celebrated his coming-of-age start with a goal. Sort of. The deflection was pretty wicked. But this game was more of an ‘appetite whetter’, something to set us up for the fab Friday nights of football to come. From next season we’re going to have regular Premier League games on Friday nights, so we can all settle in the pub early, fight over the best table and relax with a beer in hand to watch the action and follow the lollage on twitter. So here are the best tweets on a momentous night, an auspicious start to the brave new world of FNF.

Not everyone was enjoying their friday night, the players from United and Villa had work to do. All except these two who were clearly all too happy to be surplus to requirements on a Friday evening and took to the town to have a night on the tiles instead.

Louis Van Gaal was clearly in party mood as he saw his side go top of the league with a 100% record still intact. Does it really matter if it’s too early to look at the league table when you can see your side 6 points ahead of Arsenal and 5 ahead of Chelsea, United fans? I think not!

And here’s the record that Van Gaal is so happy about….

The moment we were all so desperate to see never materialised, but we’re pretty happy about that too - the commentators bursting into song mid-match may just have been too much to take….

And the award for worst facial hair of the night goes to Gabby Agbonlahor by unanimous decision! I can’t decide if it’s sleazy or just a very classy moustache from the 19th century.
