This weekend hosts one of English football's greatest traditions - the Third Round of the FA Cup.

Premier League clubs enter the competition for the first time, a seeded format that usually leads to a few surprises as tiring legs, rotated squads and stodgy pitches can see top-flight sides come unstuck against lower league opposition.

Premier League sides aren't as thrilled by the arrival of the competition as they once were; most managers nowadays view it as a chance to field their fringe players and give the starting XI regulars a much-needed rest amid the busiest period of the season.

But with the January transfer window already underway, the FA Cup's Third Round has another use for top-flight sides - the chance to put on show a few players they're hoping to sell before the end of the month.

Bearing that in mind, FootballFanCast take a look at FIVE players who'll be in the window shop this weekend. Will a stunning performance convince a suitor to put some money on the table?

The prodigious winger once heralded as a Ballon d'Or winner in the making has been handed just 20 minutes' worth of Premier League action this season by Jose Mourinho, who clearly doesn't have a place for the Dutchman in his first-team plans.

But the 22-year-old started against Northampton in the League Cup in September and could be issued another rare outing for Reading's trip to Old Trafford on Saturday, although he may have to settle for a run-out from the bench - a Championship standing of third place suggests Jaap Stam's side could spring a few surprises if Mourinho underestimates them.

After Ronald Koeman rather candidly hinted at his interest in the former PSV forward back in November, Depay and United will be hoping that a decent showing against Reading, coupled with news that winger Yannick Bolasie could be sidelined until 2018, convinces the Everton boss to put some money on the table.

Carl Jenkinson

Carl Jenkinson's great comeback for Arsenal lasted all of just 83 minutes in the Premier League, Arsene Wenger quickly deeming Gabriel Paulista a more dependable option in his unnatural position of right-back in the absence of Hector Bellerin.

That's a rather damning statement of the one-time England international's future at the Emirates Stadium and with former loan club West Ham in desperate of a conventional No.2, a solid performance against Preston at Deepdale could remind the Hammers of what the 24-year-old can offer them.

However, Mathieu Debuchy's desperate dash for the exit door could skew the situation somewhat. Via The Metro, the Frenchman has already told L'Equipe that he wants to find a new challenge in January and Mirror Football have further alleged a bust-up with Wenger. The consequential lack of depth at No.2 could oblige Le Prof to keep Jenkinson until the summer.

Jose Fonte

Claude Puel will be reluctant to call upon Jose Fonte this weekend after the Southampton captain handed in a transfer request. But with next Wednesday's League Cup semi-final clash against Liverpool beginning to linger, the urge to rotate this weekend could see Puel reluctantly issue the centre-back what will likely be his final appearance for the Saints.

In truth, potential suitors will already be aware of the EURO 2016 winner's abilities and his performance against Championship outfit Norwich probably won't impact their interest too much - barring he doesn't do something miraculously stupid like score a hat-trick of own goals.

Nonetheless, 90 minutes against the Canaries will serve as a reminder of his availability and could bring a few more clubs to the negotiating table - a potentially huge factor in Fonte securing probably the last major contract of his career at the age of 33.

Bojan

According to the Stoke Sentinel, Bojan is 'reluctantly' ready to consider offers after being frozen out of first-team affairs by Stoke boss Mark Hughes. The Spaniard, once tipped to follow Lionel Messi's path at Barcelona, has made just five Premier League starts this season and only one since mid-November.

However, the regional newspaper reckon he'll get the nod when Stoke host Wolves on Saturday - an outing that could reignite his seemingly extinguished Potters career, or alternatively generate some interest in the game-shy forward.

A technical talent of renowned La Masia pedigree, plenty of clubs from across Europe would be prepared to take a punt on the 26-year-old playmaker.

Branislav Ivanovic

Although Antonio Conte rarely altered the cast of Chelsea's 3-4-3 system during their 13-game winning run, logic suggests the Blues boss will make changes this weekend, with the Premier League leaders enjoying one of the easiest draws, hosting League One side Peterborough, and their usual suspects due a little respite after that disappointing defeat to Spurs.

That could pave the way for Branislav Ivanovic to make his first start since September, potentially coming in for Victor Moses at right wing-back or in one of the centre-half positions, but with his contract due to expire at the end of the campaign, it could be one of the Serbian's last outings for the club.

He's now allowed to discuss pre-contract terms with foreign clubs and a rare start, even against lowly opposition, could bring in a few more suitors.
