The January transfer window is the kind of place that accommodates for everything from the sublime to the absurd.
But there’s no doubting it’s utility to Premier League managers – the winter market provides the opportunity to firstly bring in new recruits for the second half of the season, as long as you know where to do your shopping, and second offload some of the deadwood that’s eating up the wage bill.
No top flight manager is expected to be more at work than Manchester United’s David Moyes. The Scot needs to reinstall some confidence at Old Trafford after an incredible stale showing in the summer window and a first half to the campaign that’s left the Red Devils’ title defence all but over already. At the same time, there’s no doubt some of the fat needs to be trimmed from the Carrington roster.
