England put in a solid performance as they beat Scotland 3-0 to continue their unbeaten run in World Cup qualifying.

Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana and Gary Cahill all found the net as the Three Lions comfortably saw off Gordon Strachan's side.

While none of the Three Lions squad had a particularly bad game, there will need to be an improvement to impress manager Gareth Southgate against a very good Spain side.

The 2010 world champions have been undergoing a renaissance under Julen Lopetegui and put four goals past Macedonia in their last game.

Southgate should consider this threat when selecting his starting line-up on this evening. Here are THREE players we think he should start.

TOM HEATON

Spain are likely to pepper the England goal with shots when they travel to Wembley on Tuesday, and England need a goalkeeper up to the task.

Joe Hart has done nothing wrong, but it may be wise to try a goalie more used to facing an onslaught, particularly as this is a friendly.

Heaton has the most saves in the Premier League this season by some margin for Burnley and this could be a key player against Spain.

With Wayne Rooney out, England need to find a midfielder capable of dictating the tempo in the middle.

Jack Wilshere looked off the pace in EURO 2016 but should be ready to return to the international fold after building his fitness at Bournemouth.

The tenacious midfielder could add a little urgency to the middle of the team and is agile enough to get around the pitch and apply pressure on the opposition - something which could prove telling.

PHIL JAGIELKA

Phil Jagielka

John Stones didn't have the best of times against Scotland and if he plays like that again, England will come undone against more ruthless opposition.

Southgate will need a disciplined defence against the likes of Alvaro Morata and David Silva and should maybe look to the calmer head of Phil Jagielka.

Jagielka hasn't been in the best of form for Everton lately but his experience could be vital against their illustrious opposition.
