The rivalry between Chelsea and Tottenham is a well documented one, and in recent years the animosity between the two sets of fans has grown to brand new levels.

With both teams now competing at the top of the Premier League, games between the two sides mean now more than they have in a very long time, which only adds to the fantastic atmosphere when the two sides face off.

However, the rivalry isn’t limited to just the fans; a heated rivalry has begun to grow between the rival sets of players, with tensions going over the edge regularly during bouts between the two sides.

With that in mind, it seems unlikely that players of each side would head to the other side of London - but it has happened before!

Tottenham have built a world class side, and Chelsea would be wise to look to their London rivals as a source of new signings this summer – even if the deals do seem unlikely to happen.

Here are THREE players Chelsea should cherry pick from Tottenham...

Eric Dier

Eric Dier

Eric Dier gained a lot of plaudits last season, and with good reason.

His stalwart-like performances in the middle of the park where a large part of the reason why Tottenham had such a good defensive record, with defences across the Premier League struggling to get past the young Englishman.

At just 22 years of age, his best years are definitely ahead of him.

Contrastingly, Chelsea were defensively poor last season – finishing the season in 10th after falling to defeats week after week, lacking the defensive prowess that players like Eric Dier provide.

With Nemanja Matic seemingly set for the Chelsea exit door alongside John Obi Mikel, Chelsea are in desperate need of defensive midfielders; and what an excellent fit Dier would be.

The deal is very unlikely; Dier is having the best seasons of his career with Spurs, and seems unlikely to want to move. But if Chelsea could capture him; what a signing.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane celebrates

The idea of Harry Kane moving to Chelsea seems very unlikely; but if Chelsea could capture the prolific front man he would no doubt fire them to the top of the Premier League next year.

Last season he was absolutely prolific, finishing the season as the Premier League’s top scorer; way ahead of Chelsea stars like Diego Costa.

Conversely, Chelsea struggled for goals last year, and whilst they have captured Michy Batshuayi this summer; his goal scoring record is way behind that of Harry Kane.

A striking duo consisting of a fit-again Diego Costa and Harry Kane is a mouth watering thought.

Again, the deal is unlikely – but Chelsea should break the bank to sign Harry Kane. What a player.

Toby Alderweireld

Toby Alderweireld (2)

Toby Alderweireld is an unsung hero in the Tottenham defence, with the Belgian defender being a crucial part of the Tottenham back line last year.

The defender had a stellar campaign, appearing unstoppable and impassable in central defence, which when combined with Eric Dier in particular made the Tottenham defence a threatening site for opposition attackers.

He was picked up for an absolute bargain fee by Tottenham, and he has repaid that several times over in his first year alone.

Chelsea on the other hand have struggled defensively, with Gary Cahill woefully out of form and John Terry seemingly coming to an end of his playing days.

The fee for Alderweireld would no doubt be far higher than the one Tottenham paid for him just one year ago; but he would be worth every penny. A top defender for the years to come.
