Liverpool moved to within five points of the top of the Premier League with a thumping 5-1 victory over league leaders Arsenal at Anfield, suggesting it’s not just a top four finish they’re going for this season.

Four goals inside the opening 20 minutes stunned the Gunners as Brendan Rodgers’ side turned on the style to embarrass the visitors. Braces from Martin Skrtel and Raheem Sterling, as well as a Daniel Sturridge goal, saw off Arsenal who bagged a consolation through a Mikel Arteta penalty.

It was a performance worthy of a team challenging for the Premier League title, and Liverpool have enough about them to keep up with Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.

And here’s three reasons why that might well be the case…

1. Even when he doesn’t score, Luis Suarez is still a game changer…

2. When Martin Skrtel scores twice in a game, you know you’re on the verge of something special…

3. Raheem Sterling adds an even more devastating dimension to Liverpool’s SAS partnership…
