Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has moved to play down speculation linking the club with a move for Dnipro winger and Liverpool target Yevhen Konoplyanka, according to the Express.

The Ukraine international was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in the January transfer window, but recent reports have suggested Tottenham now lead the chase for his signature.

Liverpool chiefs flew out to Ukraine on January deadline day to try and negotiate a deal, but a figure could not be agreed with Dnipro.

The Dnipro president has since suggested a move to White Hart Lane is more likely, encouraging Konoplyanka to move to London ahead of Liverpool.

However, Sherwood has looked to play down the speculation by claiming there is ‘nothing definitive’ with regards to the 24-year-old winger.

“Konoplyanka is certainly one who’s being talked about, but nothing definitive,” Sherwood said.

“I think we have to make sure we see a lot more of these guys before they come in, not just the highlights.

“We’ve got to make sure we do our recruitment job on them.”

Konoplyanka has scored eleven goals and provided six assists this season, and looks set to leave Dnipro in the summer, regardless of whether Tottenham or Liverpool follow up their interest.
