Zeki Fryers – Tottenham Hotspur’s latest contentious recruit – says that he’s settled quickly at Spurs since his move away from Belgian side Standard Liege
Making the move moments after the January transfer window opened, the 20-year-old says that he’s already “very happy to be here.”
Spurs were linked with the player last summer but failed to agree a compensation package with Manchester United. He then moved to Belgium before switching back to the Premier League for less than United sought in compensation, leaving Sir Alex Ferguson calling for an investigation into the move. Spurs maintain that they have done nothing to bend the rules.
The player though has stated that he’s delighted to be training at Hotspur Way.
“It’s been great so far, mixing in with the lads and the facilities here are great to learn and to get better,” Fryers told the Tottenham Hotspur official website.
“I knew a couple of the lads from England youth internationals and I pretty much know everyone already. I’ve just got to get to know the staff now! I’m very happy to be here.”
Fryers impressed with his attacking minded movement in an Under-21 encounter yesterday against Wolves, a game which Spurs convincingly won 5-1.
“It was a difficult game because of the conditions, but that didn’t faze us, we were still able to play our football and score the goals,” he added.
“It was great to play in the friendly [against Charlton] last week, playing 60 minutes there and I played 90 minutes against Wolves. I’ve now got to build on that.”
