Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has eased Tottenham Hotspur fans’ fears by telling Sky Sports that Real Madrid are not in the market for Dele Alli.

What's the word?

On Monday, The Mirror reported that the Spanish giants are lining up a sensational swoop for the 20-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Alli has thrived in the Premier League since making the move up from MK Dons to Spurs in 2015, becoming a fully fledged England international in the process.

The midfielder scored 10 goals in the top flight last season, and he has already reached that figure at the midway stage of the current campaign.

In fact, Alli has netted seven goals in his last four league games, two of which came in Wednesday night’s 2-0 triumph over league leaders Chelsea.

The good news for Spurs, though, is that he is not on Madrid’s radar at the moment, according to Spanish football expert Balague. On Friday, he told Sky Sports:

“What a potential Dele Alli has! He is watched by everybody of course, but Real Madrid, at this point in time, have got no intention to go for him.

“Let's see how he develops in the next few years but Pochettino has created such an atmosphere at the club that nobody wants to leave.”

Is Alli at the right club?

Alli would fit into many top clubs in this form, but considering how Tottenham play, Mauricio Pochettino’s side suits him to the ground.

In addition, it is quite rare for a 20-year-old to be a regular on the teamsheet, and that is exactly the luxury that Alli has at the moment at White Hart Lane.

The problem for young players is that when they are in a rich vein of form, they can sometimes get ahead of themselves and take a big move too soon.

For Alli, he is already at a top English club, but the lure of Real Madrid would be difficult to ignore if they did eventually come calling.

Any club that does try to prise him away from the North London outfit, they will have to come up with a hefty amount as Alli has five years left on his contract.
