Tottenham Midfielder Clint Dempsey believes that his side should have no problems in seeing off the challenge of Norwich City in the Capital One cup tonight.

Dempsey was in buoyant mood ahead of the tie saying that he believed if Spurs replicated their first half performance against Southampton, they should win comfortably.

Fourth placed Tottenham secured a 2-1 victory over the Saints on Sunday and the former Fulham ace scored what proved to be the winner in a devastating opening 45 minutes for AVB’s men.

The USA international though is under no illusions that Norwich will simply roll over, but is positive about his side’s chances of making the top 8 of the competition.

He went on to tell the club’s official website "We will have to go there, be sharp and put in a professional performance, but I feel that if we go there and play as we are capable of and perform as we did in the first half at Southampton, we will be fine."

Canaries boss Chris Hughton will be lining his charges up against a side where he spent 24 years of his career as both a player and coach.

However, there will be no love lost tonight as he will try and lead Norwich to booking a quarter final place against his former side, seeking to use their home advantage.

AVB has fielded strong sides for cup matches this season and tonight is expected to be no exception with his £7million deadline day signing Dempsey set to be one of the main attacking threats.
