Former Liverpool and Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez would jump at the chance to return to the Premier League with rumours linking him with the Tottenham job, according to his former assistant Bolo Zenden.
The Spaniard ended his second spell in England as the Blues’ interim boss last year, where he moved to Italy to coach Napoli.
His has enjoyed a certain deal of success with the Naples side, guiding them to cup victory last term.
With Tim Sherwood having recently been relieved of his duties at White Hart Lane, Benitez is one of the names to have been linked with the role at Spurs.
And Zenden – who worked as a player with the manager at Liverpool and was his assistant at Chelsea – feels that he would be eager to come back to English football if given the chance:
“He loves the English game,” he told talkSPORT.
“He loves to manage his teams in England and it is just a sidestep to be back in Italy.
“He has won a cup [with Napoli] but I’m sure in the future he will be back in England. If that is going to be with Tottenham, I’m not sure.”
Benitez is seen as a candidate for the Tottenham role alongside Frank de Boer and Mauricio Pochettino.
